My Best Mate Dr. Ulhas Lad

Our mateship is very long since we moved to Hobart from Sydney in 1987. It was friendship from the very first day we met him and his wife at their residence to celebrate the Indian new year in 1987. Ulhas came to know of our arrival at Hobart and invited us to attend the Indian New Year party hosted by the Lad family for the Indian community of Tasmania at his Blackman’s Bay residence. Over the years my wife Bhavini and myself have developed very close friendly relationship with Dr Ulhas Lad & Dr. Geeta Lad. Our friendship has reached a golden stage where we have now become a one big family and their lovely daughter Aparna and handsome son Anoop treat us as their second parents.

Ulhas is truly a man of great social values who has never looked back to help anybody in need. His success for being the gifted doc is because of his concern to help people and his deep sense of responsibility for his patients. I have always known him taking full interest in the wellbeing of his patients and for that he has worked tirelessly just like his enthusiastic and hardworking wife Dr. Geeta Lad.

Ulhas has always found time for social activities and has played a big part in the establishment of Indian Cultural Society and Community Welfare Centre in Tasmania and has served as the President of the Indian Cultural Society for six terms since his arrival at Hobart in 1987. He has also played leading role in the welfare of Shanti Nivas Incorporated- Tasmania’s Hindu organisation for hindu faith and values. He is a sports loving person and enjoys playing tennis and watching international cricket and movies. He is a man of multicultural attitudes who has always respected the other people’s beliefs and religion and in doing has won many international friends.

Finally, this mate of mine is really a gem of a person with a gifted sense of humour whose friendship I cherish immensely. He is a man so eager to help and of casual friendly manners that some people can mistakenly misread him.
